MONROE — Five local students received $1,000 scholarships from Monroe Community Credit Union.
Recipients are:
Sierra Goins, a senior at St. Mary Catholic Central High School, who plans to attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall.
Kennedy Irwin, a senior at Dundee High School, who plans to attend Saginaw Valley State University in the fall.
Rachael Miska, who is currently dual-enrolled at Monroe County Community College and Eastern Michigan University.
Madison Moore, a student at Monroe County Community College, who plans to attend Central Michigan University in the fall.
Christopher Stein, a senior at Monroe High School, who plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall.

Recipients were selected through an evaluation process. Selection criteria included academic excellence, community involvement and a written essay.
