TechnipFMC secures iEPCI contract from Woodside Energy

Energy industry services provider TechnipFMC has secured a “significant” integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation (iEPCI) contract from Australia’s Woodside Energy.

The contract is for the Xena Phase 3 development to support ongoing production from the Pluto LNG project in Australia.

Under the terms of the contract, TechnipFMC will design, manufacture and install its Subsea 2.0 production system, flexible pipe and umbilicals for the Xena Infill well (XNA03).

It comes after an integrated front-end engineering design (iFEED) study and is the latest call-off under the framework agreement between the two companies.

Xena Phase 3 will be integrated with existing subsea infrastructure that was also supplied by TechnipFMC.

A “significant” deal for TechnipFMC is one that is valued between $75m and $250m.

The award is expected to be included in the company’s inbound orders for the second quarter of 2024.

The Pluto LNG project processes gas from the offshore Pluto and Xena gas fields, which is transported through a 180km trunkline to a single onshore LNG-processing train.

Woodside is also working on a brownfield expansion of Pluto LNG through the construction of a second gas processing train to process gas from the offshore Scarborough field.

TechnipFMC president of subsea Jonathan Landes said: “We are proud to be delivering a fully integrated project from concept to execution. This project will help our long-term client meet their objectives, demonstrating the favorable impact iFEED, iEPCI and Subsea 2.0 can have on project economics.”

Earlier this year, TechnipFMC and Saipem were chosen to work on a key carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in the UK.

The Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP), a joint venture between BP, Equinor and TotalEnergies, selected TechnipFMC to supply and install an all-electric subsea system featuring manifolds, umbilicals and pipes.

The NEP infrastructure will facilitate CO₂ transportation and storage for the UK’s East Coast Cluster.
