ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Angelique Sanchez, the mother who triggered an Amber Alert in April after being accused of abducting and fleeing with her son 10-year-old son, pleaded not guilty to charges Friday.

Sanchez is accused of violating a custodial order and failing to return her son to the legal guardians after she lost custody of him. According to a criminal complaint Sanchez rammed into New Mexico State Police vehicle while trying to flee authorities. Her son was inside the car at the time. Sanchez was located with her son and arrested near 5th and Belrose in Albuquerque on Wednesday, April 24. The 10-year-old was unharmed when authorities found him.
Friday in court Sanchez pleaded not guilty to multiple charges including child abuse, aggravated assault on a peace officer and custodial interference. The state asked that she have no contact with the victim or witnesses and will will continue to be held in custody until trial. A date for trial has not yet been set.
