Old image from Ukraine wrongly connected to airplane crash that eliminated Malawi’s vice president

On June 11, 2024, Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera validated that Chilima and 8 others – one less than at first reported – passed away after his airplane crashed in bad weather condition (archived here). Previous very first woman Shanil Dzimbiri was likewise on board. The next day searchers situated the wreckage in a misty forest.

Ukraine airplane

A reverse image search of the image revealed it was initially taken in Ukraine in 2020 (archived here).

On September 25, 2020, the An-26 military airplane with 27 individuals on board crashed throughout a training flight while landing at an army base near Chuguev in Kharkiv area. Someone endured.

Malawi crash
