Snowboarder ‘wandered off’ in winter storm — then came ‘lucky small break’ for rescuers
A snowboarder was rescued after he “wandered off” during storm conditions, Utah officials said.

The 23-year-old man was at Powder Mountain in Eden on April 6 when he found himself out of snow while trying to get down the mountain, according to Weber County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue.

Rescuers on snowmobiles followed his tracks until “they also ran out of snow,” officials said.

Then a “lucky small break” in weather conditions struck, officials said, and the mission continued on foot until they found him.

Staff with the Department of Public Safety Aero Bureau helped get the snowboarder to safety, officials said.

Eden is about a 50-mile drive northeast of Salt Lake City.
